I’m at the start of another year and I’m exited about the possibilities that this year could hold. At the same time I’m daunted by the prospect of starting over again. After last semester I thought I would continue with what I researched last semester, but now I’m more inclined to leave a good chunk of it behind. Having the Triumph award due in a week I was at a block in class as to how to approach it. It seems like I had two instincts.
-The first was to sit at the mannequin and experiment with the fabrics I had.
-The second was to go straight to a piece of paper and sketch an idea.
Last semester focused heavily on process that meant the end product came very late. I tried both options and neither really got me anywhere. This created a complex, because I started to question last year’s work. How could the process I developed last year, fit into a commercial practice that had a very short turn around?
This is the trouble I’m facing at the moment. How to somehow start the project and produce a result less than a week away??
